The funny thing is I never really watched magical girl anime before I watched Madoka Magica and it was still a total head trip.

I think the only regular magical girl anime I’d watched is like the first 4 eps of Lyrical Nanoha. Madoka Magica showed me that magical girl anime doesn’t have to be mostly cuteness and happy talk. The graphics are kinda crazy during the fights also.
