[Of course. Mostly Yaoi manhuas though]
Nope they have weird hands
I don’t watch yaoi anime simply because i don’t support the fetishization of gay relationships. most yaoi anime are basically here to be fap material for straight girls with a fetish for gay guys. There are some anime and manga series that manage to portray homosexual relationships in a good way, like yuri on ice or banana fish (only looking at ash and eiji here). another thing that is very harmful towards the gay community is the reinforcement of gender specific stereotypes with its seme/ uke bullshit, demanding that one guy HAS to behave like a stereotypical woman and the other one HAS to behave like a stereotypical man. in other words, i do watch anime that display homosexuality in a healthy way but not “yaoi”.
That got deep
We went from romantic animes to gay fetishes
@Let06 yeah the problem is that in most yaoi the characters don’t even have depth or be granted to have a healthy romantic relationship, they’re just there to make out or to have sex. if you look at anime that are about straight couples, most of the time both characters have depth, dreams and actual feelings. they get a chance to live out their romance and go on dates and just be happy people. if you look at most yaoi on the other hand, both characters are just there to live out the physical aspects of a relationship, which kind of implies that only a relationship between a man and a woman can be based an actual love and a relationship between a man and another man can only exist for sex. and that is a very very harmful stereotype :/.
That makes sense. I’ve never watched it before but if you google it a lot of physical stuff pops up ;-;
Well, also it is about gay culture and how it is represented in anime. Compared to live action versions of gay culture, anime is pretty chaste (the non-hentai part). The other problem is that yaoi gets very few anime made as a genre. I mean the average anime is pretty bad, so the average yaoi anime is going to likely be bad also. That said, it does seem that yaoi focus more on the shallow physical aspects than most romance anime, in general. Even Given which was one of the more high quality yaoi, they moved pretty fast to the physical stuff.
Yuri anime are bad in a different way in that they tend to be dominated by kawaii, lolis, and moe characters (not that I complain... I love that sh!t).
What do you think?
