I wonder whether I'd be able to get into Pokemon today if it didn't have the nostalgia factor? It does have characters I'd like, and lots of tail-related moments (DBZ gave me an interest in them), probably the highest count even compared to MLP: FiM (though this is because it's over a thousand episodes). It might not meet my usual standards for anime today - except in select, uncharacteristically epic Atsuhiro Tomioka episodes (J and Cyrus's last episodes, and the whole battle with Lysandre). Though I did give Fairy Tail a chance before I decided I wasn't much into it.
Meaning there hasn’t been an actual series to take over the old series that reset everything. Similar to how Bakugan Battle Brawlers became Bakugan Battle Planet which reset the whole game and made it different
