I guess maybe since it has a lot of movies and books etc that came out long before the animated movies, and most will know the term Godzilla from those. Many probably didn’t even know that the anime movies existed or assumed that they weren’t made by Japan due to animation.

I haven’t actually watched the animated movies yet and they don’t look that appealing. I might give them a try at some point... if im ever that desperate.

I’ve never heard anyone deny it but they’re ass anyway.
