Gurren Lagan. I didn't felt a single thing "GOOD" about Evangelion. That was a 'watch to fuck yourself' show. Gurren Lagan was not as depressing as NGL and it was sometimes funny even at serious time which is good. And fights are really better than NGL. And mainly I liked Kamina a lot, imo he is arguably the best character from both the shows.
Sometimes better plot, character, story doesn't make an anime better if the anime is not watchable.
Evangelion is a timeless masterpiece but so is Gurren Lagann. I totally agree with @Yu767485 . Both are jam-packed with deep themes and meaning. I'd give the edge to Evangelion because it's longer with the rebuild movies (they are actually sequels to the original).
@Anayan Kashyap Evangelion isn’t necessarily meant to be enjoyable. You need to be in the right mindset to watch it. If you are looking for fights, likeable characters or general entertainment, you’re not gonna like Eva. I don’t understand how better story, and characters doesn’t mean a show is better.
'if someone drops it how can he know how better it is? An anime should be able to make one sit back and watch the show' I didn't drop it tho, I haven't watched End of Eva yet but I didn't really like NgE.
