AniplexUSA rarely dubs shows like these. The chances of one are very slim
Leaving aside repeated sequences, I just found it to be a good adaptation of its light novel as opposed to Shield Hero. Light novels in general can be hard to adapt, so anime based on them can be hit or miss. In my opinion, it either has to be on par with its source material or surpasses it. There are very few anime that fit those conditions. Some examples are: Oregairu and Spice & Wolf
Re:Zero...I guess?
Are you asking me?
Attack on Titan
Steins;Gate
Haikyuu
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Mob Psycho 100
Spice & Wolf
Fate/Zero
Assassination Classroom
I know it's not on the poll, but would you consider trying out Haikyuu? I personally think it's a shounen done right, and arguably better than anything else on the poll aside from Saiki and Gintama (cuz I haven't seen those)
Well, it depends on how booked studio BONES is (or they could just let another studio handle it) and whether the source material has enough content.
It's a decent adaptation of the light novel. I found the direction particularly weak.
LOL
Mildly is putting it lightly LMAO
It had an interesting concept but the execution wasn't very good. I still enjoyed it though, but I don't think I'll ever see myself rewatching it again
That was quite informative; I learned quite a lot. So it has to do with cultural difference, huh. I did notice that Sao is very successful in Japan and has received a far more positive reception than here in the west. Anyways, thank you.
It doesn't help that the anime rushes stuff
@Fandyllic I've read in an interview before that Reki Kawahara wasn't a very experienced writer when he first started Sao, which was originally a web novel. I heard the light novel (published version) doesn't differ a lot from the web novel (basically the rough draft). With the web novel he didn't have an editor or staff to assist him, so there were a lot of instances of messy writing (a lot of fans weren't satisfied with the many timeskips the Aincrad arc had so he made " Sword Art Online: Progressive down the line to retcon a buncha stuff). A lot of readers of the source material have admitted that his writing only improved in the Mother's Rosario arc and Alicization - which fans agree to be his peak. From what I've seen so far, most of the people who dislike Sao, their hate stems from the first 2 arcs which were made at his worst.
It's enjoyable mediocrity.
