Azuki-chan (あずきちゃん) is a Japanese shōjo manga by Yasushi Akimoto. It was serialized by Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine from 1993 to 1997, bundling up to 5 volumes. An anime adaptation ran on NHK from April 4 1995 to 17 March 1998 for 117 episodes.

Plot

The story about a young schoolgirl named Azusa Noyama, nicknamed Azuki-chan because when she was younger she was accidentally called Azuki.

She always hated the name until one day a new boy transfers into her called Yuunosuke Ogasawara, the same day she was teased by a boy called Ken-chan about her nickname. Yuunosuke passes by and happily memorizes the name becoming the first girl he notices. Azuki is overjoyed and instantly falls in love with him, loving both him and starts to dig her nickname.
