Cestvs: The Roman Fighter (セスタス-The Roman Fighter-, Sesutasu-The Roman Fighter-) is a Japanese anime series based on the manga Kento Ankoku Den Cestvs (拳闘暗黒伝セスタス, Kentō Ankoku Den Sesutasu) written and Illustrated by Shizuya Wazarai. It was published in Hakusensha's seinen magazine Young Animal from 1997 Issue 23 to 2009 Issue 6. A sequel started in 2010 under a new title Kendo Shito Den Cestvs (拳奴死闘伝セスタス, Kendo Shittō Den Sesutasu, Cestvs: Legend of Desperate Struggle) published in Hakusensha's seinen magazine Young Animal from 2010 Issue 11 to 2014 Issue 12, it was later transferred to Young Animal Arashi running from Issue 2014-10 to Issue 2018-06, until magazine ceased its publication, after which it continued on Manga Park web platform. The anime will premier in April 2021 on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block and is directed by Toshifumi Kawase at BN Pictures & LOGIC&MAGIC.
Plot[]
54 AD. Cestvs, a young boy orphaned by the Roman empire and made a slave, is placed into a training school for pugilists. It is here that he begins his journey to defy fate and fight for his own freedom.
