Super Bakumatsu Century Boy Takamaru (超幕末少年世紀タカマル, Cho Bakumatsu Shonen Seiki Takamaru) is a Japanese OVA series produced by J.C.Staff and Studio Live. It was created and directed by Toyoo Ashida, who was also the character designer of the Mashin Hero Wataru franchise and Mado King Granzort series.
The first OVA was released from November 1 to December 20, 1991. A sequel titled New Super Bakumatsu Century Boy Takamaru (新・超幕末少年世紀タカマル, Shin Cho Bakumatsu Shonen Seiki Takamaru) was released from November 20, 1992 to June 20, 1993.
Plot[]
First OVA[]
On an isolated island near Japan resides the Kingdom of Champon (ちゃんぽん王国), there lives a young samurai named Takamaru who can become super strong when holding his breath for five minutes. His adventure begins when a family from Japan's Foreign Ministry comes to visit.
Second OVA[]
A beautiful girl named Karin was riding a plane until she crashlands onto the Kingdom of Champon. Now amnesiac from the shock, it's up to Takamaru and his friends to help her out till they figure out she is not what she seems to be.
