Crayon Kingdom of Dreams (夢のクレヨン王国, Yume no Crayon Oukoku) is a 70-episode Japanese anime television series created by Toei Animation and broadcasted from 1997 to 1999. It was based on the novel series by Reizo Fukunaga, and was adapted into a manga by Michiru Kataoka and serialized in Nakayoshi from 1997 to 1998.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Once upon a time in the peaceful Crayon Kingdom, there lived a twelve-year-old girl named Princess Silver who beautiful smile is adored by the citizens. However, unknown to them, the princess has 12 bad habits much to the Chameleon Prime Minister's distress who finds it a royal embarrassment if word gets out. One day on the princess's twelfth birthday, Silver tries hard to find a suitable dance-partner while temporarily forgetting about her bad habits. The boy she thinks suitable to dance with refuses to dance and, after a short quarrel, he changes Silver's parents, King Golden and Queen Opal, into stone. Silver learns that only the Grim Reaper is capable of casting a spell like that, and assumes that the boy was actually him in disguise. Eventually, she realizes that the boy and Grim Reaper are two different people, and the boy petrified Silver's parents to protect the family from the Reaper's harm. Accompanied by a pig named Stonston and a chicken named Araessa, Princess Silver adventures across the kingdom on her quest to save her parents, defeat the Reaper, and particularly reform herself of her bad habits.
