Gender (also known as "sex") is a common topic of anime, manga, light novels, etc. In Japan most demographics for anime and manga are divided along gender lines like: shōjo (targeted at young girls), shōnen (targeted at young boys), josei (targeted at young women and older), or seinen (targeted at young men and older). However, there also tends to be more gender fluidity in the actual content.
