Gods' Games We Play (神は遊戯〈ゲーム〉に飢えている。, Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru.; lit "God Is Hungry for Games."), also known as God is Hungry for Game, is light novel series written by Sazane Kei and illustrated by Tomose Toiro that began publishing in January 25, 2021 under Kadokawa's MF Bunko J (MF文庫J) imprint. It began serialization online in September 2020 on Kadokawa's user-generated novel publishing website, Kakuyomu. The light novel has 7 volumes as of July 25, 2023. A manga adaptation Gods' Games We Play (神は遊戯に飢えている。) with illustration by Kapiko Toriumi started serializing on August 27, 2021 in Kadowkawa's seinen magazine Monthly Comic Alive. The manga has 2 tankōbon volumes as of April 21, 2023 with a 3rd due in April 2024. An anime adaptation by LIDEN FILMS was announced January 21, 2022 on the light novel's official Twitter account and will premiere on April 1, 2024.
Plot[]
"Gods' Games We Play" is a trial given to humankind to win 10 brain games against the gods. A former god, the girl Leche, woke up from a long slumber and declared unto the world "Bring forth the person who is the best at games in this era!" Thus Faye, regarded as the best rookie in recent years, is chosen to represent humanity. However the Play of the Gods he is about to challenge might be too difficult: indeed, there is no human in history who has ever succeeded. Well, the reason is quite obvious: the gods are capricious, unreasonable, and sometimes even absolutely incomprehensible. But, because it's such a game, "It's a waste to not have fun and play from the bottom of my heart!" And thus begins the ultimate brain battle of a genius gamer, a former god, and friends!
