Cinderella Nine (八月のシンデレラナイン, Hachigatsu no Shinderera Nain; lit, "Cinderella Nine in August") is a free-to-play mobile video game for iOS and Android released by Akatsuki and Kadokawa and released in Japan on June 27, 2017. A four-panel comedy spin-off manga series by Bkub Okawa titled Hachi Nai Gaiden: Senryoku Gai! Katato-chan (ハチナイ外伝 戦力外!カタトちゃん) and a novelization titled Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine ~Before Summer~ (八月のシンデレラナイン ~before summer~) are being serialized on the game's official website. An ONA for the games opening animation by A-1 Pictures premiered on July 31, 2016. A 4-episode original net animation adaptation of the four-panel manga titled Katato the Animation (カタトTHEアニメーション) was streamed between May and June 2017, and an anime series adaptation of the original game by TMS Entertainment premiered on April 7, 2019 and ran for 12 episodes to July 8, 2019. As special episode 13 aired September 25, 2021.

Plot[]

Newly-minted high schooler Tsubasa Arihara wants to start a girls' baseball team at Rigahama High. Unfortunately for her, instead of going through proper channels, Tsubasa lets her enthusiasm (and maybe her friend Tomoe's words) carry her away, and she charges onstage during the club presentation assembly to make her call for members. Although her homeroom teacher supports her efforts, and despite getting two potential members in the form of super-shy Ukita and slightly-leery Nozaki, the student council remains opposed to the team. That's not going to keep Tsubasa down, though – the girl's nothing if not enthusiastic and devoted to her dream.
