Aria the Scarlet Ammo (緋弾のアリア, Hidan no Aria) is a Japanese light novel series by Chūgaku Akamatsu with illustrations by Kobuichi. As of March 2011, 9 volumes have been published by Media Factory under their MF Bunko J label. A manga adaptation by Yoshino Koyoka started serialization in the seinen manga magazine Monthly Comic Alive on September 26, 2009. An anime adaptation has been announced, and was released on April 14, 2011.
Plot
With crime rate on the rise, special students are chosen to enroll in Tokyo Butei High School, a school dedicated to train armed detectives called "Butei". Among these students is second-year student Kinji Touyama, who seeks a normal life. However, he is dragged into a more exciting school term when he meets a girl named Aria H. Kanzaki in a life-threatening situation.
Characters
- Kinji Tohyama (遠山 キンジ, Tohyama Kinji) - The main protagonist and student of Tokyo Butei High School. He tries to live a normal life and transfer to another school after a tragic event in his past, but decides to stay after his encounter with Aria H. Kanzaki. He possesses a Beretta M92F modified in illegal standards and a butterfly knife.
- Aria H. Kanzaki (神崎・H・アリア, Kanzaki H Aria) - Female transfer student of Butei High school. She is considered to be top of her class, with her ability to wield two guns or two swords at the same time, earning the title of a "Quadra". She wields a pair of two M1911 (also known as Colt) pistols and a pair of concealed kodachi.
- Shirayuki Hotogi (星伽 白雪, Hotogi Shirayuki) - Female student of Butei High School and childhood friend of Kinji. She usually attends to Kinji's needs whenever she is at his home, and is regarded as the perfect girl for her arsenal of skills when it comes to housekeeping, sports and others. However, for some reason, she turns into a berserker and usually assaults the girls that involves Kinji. She uses a Japanese sword named Irokane Ayame as a weapon of choice. It ia now a bit clear that she likes Kinji.
