Pixiv

pixiv is a Japanese online community for artists. It was first launched as a beta test on September 10, 2007, by Takahiro Kamitani and Takanori Katagiri. Pixiv Inc. is headquartered in Sendagaya, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. As of January 2024, the site consists of over 100 million members, over 115 million illustrations including manga and over 21 million novel works posted. Pixiv aims to provide a place for artists to exhibit their illustrations and get feedback via a rating system and user comments. Works are organized in an extensive tag structure which forms the backbone of the website.

  • Kurofune (クロフネ; 1994 - Present) - initially launched in 1994 by Biblos under the title Zero, but re-launched by pixiv in 2008 as Kurofune Zero, then renamed Kurofune on November 24, 2016; stories are all-genre with focus on the fantasy and science fiction genres; entered a joint partnership with Pixiv Comics in October 2012, where it is distributed digitally under their platform since then.

pixiv Comics[]

pixiv Comics (「pixivコミック」, pixiv komikku) is a general comic website where users can read digital comics for free and check the latest information, was launched on June 6 , 2012. The website also has a function that allows users to "follow" magazines and works, and send their comments to the editorial department. In addition, information about works that users follow is compiled on their personal pages, and users can receive notifications about new information. Revenue is generated by sharing sales of books in exchange for providing online promotion.

pixiv Premium[]

pixiv Premium is a paid membership service introduced on April 1, 2009. Premium members are defined as "supporters who can cooperate with the operation of pixiv", and therefore, even if you became a premium member, the basic functions of pixiv were initially almost unchanged. In addition to the provision of pixiv points and preferential fees, there were also some other minor benefits such as preferential treatment at events hosted by pixiv, the right to establish event communities (described below), line breaks in captions, customization of blog widgets, receiving messages on the mobile version, and displaying high-resolution illustrations.
