School Days (スクールデイズ, Sukūru Deizu) is a Japanese visual novel developed by 0verflow, released on April 28, 2005 for Windows and later ported as a DVD game and for the PlayStation 2 (PS2) and PlayStation Portable (PSP). It is a sequel to Pure Mail.

Following the game's release, School Days made several transitions into other media. The original story was adapted into a manga and serialized in the Kadokawa Shoten magazine Comp Ace, later published into two volumes. Comic anthologies, light novels and art books were also published, as were audio dramas and several albums of music. An animated television series and two direct-to-video (OVA) single releases were also produced, the former of which became a precursor for an internet meme when its finale was pulled from broadcast.

Plot[]

Makoto Itou rides the train to and from school every day. However, at the beginning of his second term, he falls in love with a beautiful girl that also rides the train. Unfortunately, she barely knows of his existence. Her name is Kotonoha Katsura, and though they attend the same school, they are not in the same class. In an attempt to catch her eye, Makoto enlists the aid of a close female friend of his: Sekai Saionji. She helps him, despite the fact that she--unbeknownst to Makoto--is in love with him. Thus the three are bound in a love triangle of life-changing proportions.
