Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma (食戟のソーマ, Shokugeki no Sōma, lit. "Sōma of the Shokugeki") is a Japanese shōnen manga series written by Yūto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki. Yuki Morisaki also works as a collaborator, providing the recipes for the series. Individual chapters have been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since November 26, 2012, with tankōbon volumes being released by Shueisha. As of April 2019, 34 volumes have been released in Japan. The series is licensed by Viz Media, who has been releasing the volumes digitally since March 18, 2014, and released the first volume in print on August 5, 2014.

An anime adaptation by J.C.Staff aired from April 3 to September 25, 2015. A second season subtitled The Second Plate (弐ノ皿, Ni no Sara) aired between July 2, 2016 and September 24, 2016. A third season subtitled The Third Plate (餐ノ皿, San no Sara) aired between two cours, the first on October 4 and December 20, 2017; and the second half between April 9 to June 25, 2018. A fourth season subtitled The Fourth Plate (神ノ皿, Kami no Sara) is scheduled to premiere on October 11, 2019.

PlotEdit

Yukihira Soma's dream is to become a full-time chef in his father's restaurant and surpass his father's culinary skills. But just as Soma graduates from middle school, his father, Yukihira Jouichiro, closes down the restaurant to cook in the United States. Although downtrodden, Soma's fighting spirit is rekindled by a challenge from Jouichiro which is to survive in an elite culinary school where only 10% of the students graduate. Can Soma survive?
