Altair: A Record of Battles (将国のアルタイル, lit. "Altair: A Record of Battles") is a manga series written and illustrated by Kotono Kato, serialized in Monthly Shōnen Sirius. The manga has been licensed for digital release in English by Kodansha Comics. A comedy spin-off manga titled Shoukoku no Altair-san (小国のアルタイルさん, lit. "Small Country Altair-san") by Shina Soga, was published in the same magazine between April of 2012 and September 2013. The spin-off manga Shoukoku no Altair Gaiden: Toukoku no Subaru (将国のアルタイル嵬伝 嶌国のスバル) written by Hirokazu Kobayashi with art by Chika Katou, began serialization in January of 2016, also in Monthly Shōnen Sirius.

An anime television series produced by MAPPA aired starting on July 7, 2017.

Plot[]

Kotono Kato, a historian, presents a fantastic tale woven of intricate historical details set in a time of war.

Mahmut is a young Pasha serving on the general's council of Türkiye. The clouds of war are gathering over his country. With Türkiye's council split between the warmongers and the pacifists, Mahmut begins his quest to keep the peace at any cost. As he finds himself deeper and deeper in the politics of the ancient world, new enemies and allies surface. Who will prevail? What will Mahmut do if war proves to be inevitable?
