Sonic X (ソニックX, Sonikku Ekkusu) is an anime television series, featuring video game hero Sonic the Hedgehog and is loosely based on the storylines of the Sonic Adventure series, with partial elements of Sonic Battle, Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog as well. Its rated genres are: action, adventure, sci-fi and comedy. It was animated and produced in Japan by TMS Entertainment with the partnership of Sega and Sonic Team. It was first aired in Japan in 2003. During that same year, 4Kids Entertainment obtained the license in a joint effort between 4Kids and Viz Media and distributed by FUNimation. It was also broadcasted in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and Latin America by Jetix and in Canada by YTV.

Plot

The franchise centers on a series of speed-based platform games. The protagonist of the series is an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog named Sonic, whose peaceful life is often interrupted by the series' main antagonist, Doctor Eggman. Typically, Sonic—usually along with some of his friends, such as Tails, Amy, and Knuckles—must stop Eggman and foil any plans of world domination.
