Star Ocean (スターオーシャン) is a Japanese sci-fi franchise of action RPGs developed by the Japanese company tri-Ace and published and owned by Enix (now Square Enix).
An anime series titled Star Ocean EX based on the second game, "Star Ocean: The Second Story" and the manga was aired from April 3 to September 25, 2001 by Studio Deen, and currently licensed by Discotek Media

From the Year S.D 346 (A.D 2432), Earth's technology has taken leaps for humanity to migrate into space and explore the vast galaxy. Heroes living among different planets interact with various aliens and dealing with planetary crisis.
