That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (転生したらスライムだった件, Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken), also known as TenSura (転スラ, Ten Sura), is a light novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. It has been published in English by Yen Press since December 19, 2017. It originally began as a web novel serialized in Shōsetsuka ni Narō starting in 2013.

The novel series was adapted into a manga series written by Fuse and illustrated by Taiki Kawakami began serializing in Monthly Shōnen Sirius on March 26, 2015. It was a winner of the 46th Kodansha Manga Award in 2022. It has been published in English by Kodansha Comics USA since August 22, 2017. A spinoff manga The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (転スラ日記転生したらスライムだった件, Tensura Nikki Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) written by Fuse and illustrated by Shiba started serializing in the magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius on March 2018.

An anime adaptation for TV was announced in March 2018 to premiere in fall 2018^[1] to be produced by 8-bit studio with music by Elements Garden.^[2] The first season ran for 24 episodes from October 2, 2018 to March 19, 2019. A second season, again by 8-bit, ran for 12 episodes from January 12, 2021 to March 30, 2021. An anime adaptation of the spinoff manga The Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime also by 8-bit ran for 12 episodes from April 6, 2021 to June 22, 2021. Part 2 of season 2 ran for 12 more episodes from July 6, 2021 to September 21, 2021.

In early March 2022, an upcoming film was announced to be in production for an expected November 2022 premiere.

Plot[]

After being killed by a passing robber, a normal 37-year-old guy finds himself reincarnated in another world as a blind slime with unique abilities. He takes up a new name and calls himself "Rimuru Tempest," which he thought of after meeting his new friend, "catastrophe-level" Storm Dragon Verudora. There, he begins his new slime-like life in another world with his increasing number of minions by his side.
