Yatagarasu Series (八咫烏シリーズ, Yatagarasu Shirīzu), also known as The Chronicle of Yatagarasu,[1] is a Japanese novel series written by Chisato Abe with th first volume titled Extraordinary Princess (烏に単は似合わない, Karasu ni Hitoe wa Niawanai; lit. "Crows Don't Look Good in Kimonos").[1] The series began publication by Bungeishunjū in June 2012, with 10 main volumes (split into part 1: 6 volumes and part 2: 4 volumes) and 2 side story volumes being released as of February 22, 2024. A manga adaptation of the first novel, with the same title as the Japanese novel, but titled A Raven for All Seasons in the English version,[2] was illustrated by Natsumi Matsuzaki[2] and serialized on Kodansha's Comic Days manga website from June 2018 to April 2020 and later on the K MANGA website in English. A manga adaptation of the second novel (Prince Without a Servant), titled Crows Don't Choose Their Masters (烏は主を選ばない, Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai), began serialization in Kodansha's Evening magazine in August 2020, before being transferred to the Comic Days website in November 2021. An anime television series adaptation of the second novel titled The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master and produced by Pierrot premiered on April 6, 2024 and expected to run for 20 episodes. A sequel anime based on the third novel (The Golden Raven) was announced to premiere on July 20, 2024.

Volume 1:

Four beautiful princesses from four great noble families gather at the palace to select a queen for the crown prince.
They compete fiercely for their family’s prestige and power. The Prince, however, does not reveal himself to them.
Meanwhile, they experience a number of mysterious incidents; a missing maid, an intruder in the palace, anonymous letters… Who will be chosen to be queen?
