Zoids is a Japanese science fiction media franchise created by TOMY, featuring mecha based on animals such as tigers, lions, or various dinosaurs. The franchise spawned many manga adaptations, games and 4 anime seasons produced by Shogakukan, Inc and XEBEC.

Only the second series has been dubbed and released in Western nations, originally simply under the title Zoids, before being later rebranded as Zoids: New Century by Viz, and was the first Zoids series to be dubbed in English.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Zoids: Chaotic Century[edit | edit source]

Zoids are beast-like fighting machines used in both everyday use and war. There are also miniature bio-Zoids, known as Organoids, capable to fuse with a non-living Zoid and make it much more powerful.

Van Flyheight discovers a Zoid Organoid in an abandoned laboratory while running from two strange Zoid pilots. Upon entering, he discovers a strange girls in suspended animation and frees her. The discovered Organized fuses with a ruined Shield Liger Zoid outside nearby. Making his escape, Van names the Organoid Zeke, and decides to keep him as a friend. The girl, who says her name is Fiona, wants to find something called Zoids Eve, and so Van, Zeke, and Fiona begin their adventure.

Zoids: New Century Zero[edit | edit source]

After the events of Chaotic Century. Zoids are no longer tools for warfare tools; but have become a competitive sport between Zoids and humans and held by a series of battle-competitions and tournaments, run by the Zoid Battle Commission. The Zoid Battle Commission seems to be a significant power on Planet Zi, fielding a considerable arsenal of armed Zoids, orbital platforms serviced by their own launch facilities as well as orbital based weapons systems.

The series focuses on the Blitz Team, in particular the actions of the Liger Zero and Bit Cloud. The series charts the rise of the Blitz Team through various competitions of the Zoid Battle Commission, and the team's efforts to avoid conflict with the criminal organization known as the Backdraft Group.

Zoids Fuzors[edit | edit source]

R.D. is a delivery boy who works for a company/Zoid Battling Team called Mach Storm in order to earn money to search for the legendary Alpha Zoid, after believing in the rumors from his dad. In R.D.'s first Coliseum Zoid Battle, he encounters a team that can fuse Zoids. R.D. soon discovers that he has a Zoid that can computably fuse with his Zoid, Liger Zero. After this happens R.D.'s adventure to discover the truth about the Alpha Zoid begins.

Zoids: Genesis[edit | edit source]

Natural disasters have devastated planet Zi, killing off almost all life. A thousand years later humans have gradually re-established civilization, salvaging ancient Zoids through diving and mining efforts. In a village whose most previous item is a giant sword which they worship as a holy symbol, a teenage boy discovers an ancient Liger-type Zoid while on a deep water salvage operation. Suddenly the village is attacked by skeletal Bio-Zoids intent on stealing a powerful generator located in the village. The boy, Ruuji Familon, awakens the Liger and discovers that the town`s sacred sword is the Liger`s weapon, together they fight off the mysterious Bio-Zoids. At least for now...
